Our current standard
CHA aims to follow WCAG 2.2 Level AA practices where reasonably achievable. This statement describes the site’s current state; it does not claim perfect or independently certified conformance.
Accessibility features currently provided
- A skip link, semantic landmarks and a visible heading structure.
- Keyboard-operable navigation, search, forms, modals, galleries and cookie choices.
- Text labels or accessible names for buttons and form controls.
- Visible focus indicators and status/error messages that do not depend only on colour.
- Responsive layouts with large touch targets for mobile visitors.
- Alternative text for meaningful images and empty alternative text where imagery is decorative.
- Reduced-motion support for visitors whose devices request it.
- YouTube content that loads only after a choice and can also be opened on YouTube, where caption availability is controlled by the publisher/platform.
Known limitations and ongoing work
Some older downloadable PDFs may not yet offer the same reading order, tagging and screen-reader experience as the HTML pages. The current RSVP, press and volunteer forms have been updated with clearer labels and privacy information, but CHA should commission a formal PDF/UA review if these documents become a primary application channel.
Third-party video captions, external websites and browser PDF viewers are outside CHA’s direct control. Some decorative motion and dense archive galleries may still require further testing with a wider range of assistive technologies.
CHA has completed a code-level and journey-level review for this release but has not commissioned a full independent WCAG audit. We will update this statement when a formal audit is completed.
Guest and event accessibility
Invited guests may provide only the accommodation information needed for seating, mobility, communication or event access. This information is optional, treated as sensitive where it reveals health information, and subject to a separate explicit choice. See the Guest Experience page.
